Arrival
Arriving by plane: Airport Transfer from and to Vienna International Airport (VIE)
City Airport Train (CAT)
Leaving every 30 minutes from the airport, the CAT is taking you directly to the central subway station Landstrasse/Wien-Mitte (U3 and U4). The ride takes 16 minutes and from there the city centre and the WU are less than 15 minutes by metro or taxi.
Tickets are 11€ for a single and 19€ for a return.
It is also possible to check in at Wien-Mitte, when leaving for your flight back.
Regional Train (S7)
Regional trains also run from the airport to the city center and stop either at Landstraße/Wien-Mitte subway station, Praterstern subway station or Hauptbahnhof (central station). The trains are a bit slower than CAT but also cost less.
A single trip from the airport is 4,20€.
In combination with a day/2day/3day ticket of public transport (24h cost 8€, 48h cost 14,10€ and 72h cost 17,10€; more information here), you need one additional ticket from the airport to the Vienna city limits for the price of 1.80€ (available from ÖBB ticket machines or ÖBB ticket counters). More information on that can be found here.
Airport Bus (Vienna Airport Lines, VAL)
The Vienna Airport Lines buses leave from the airport and take you either directly to the city center or to WU. Leaving every 30 minutes, the ride to Schwedenplatz/Morzin Platz is the correct bus to reach the center, whereas the ride to Krieau (Vorgartenstraße) is the correct bus if you want to reach WU.
From Krieau it's only a short walk to WU, most conference hotels are reachable by foot or by metro (one stop on U2 to Messe-Prater)
